General Itinerary
Tiya is the archaeological site discovered in the Soddo region and it is a 2 hr 30 min journey (83 Km) south of Addis Ababa. Tiya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known an ancient stelae or standing stones field. The stones date back to the 12th - 14th centuries and are believed to be grave markers for important figures in the region. The site contains 36 monuments carved stelae covered with symbols and vary in size from 1 m to 5 m. to reach there your driver will come to your place and drive you for 2 hrs (83 Km out of addis Ababa. After exploring Tiya, head towards Adadi Mariam rock-hewn churches and have lunch at a local restaurant along the way.
Adadi Mariam rock-hewn church
A church named Adadi Mariam. According to legend, this is among the last surviving rock-hewn churches in Ethiopia, dating back to the 12th century.
Spend some time exploring the church's unique architectural features, which include beautifully preserved frescoes and intricate carvings.
Take a break at a local restaurant in Adadi town, where you can try the traditional Ethiopian coffee.

Menagesha Suba Forest Park is located 50 km west of Addis Ababa. The forest initially protected by the decree of zere Yakob, one of the emperor of Ethiopia during 1399 to 1468. The forest is the most ancient conservation area in East Africa and the park is about 2500 hectares.
The park is perfect for hiking, walking and wildlife viewing, like the black and white Colobus monkey, and endemic Menelik's bushbuck. You will also notice different kinds of birds, including the endemic Ethiopian oriole and Abyssinian woodpecker.
